Managing editor, Europe is a new position created in response to the growing chemicals policy agenda in Europe, and a consequential increase in the size of the Europe desk team. Reporting to the company’s London-based global managing editor, the successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing successful editorial teams as well as top-level writing and editing skills. The managing editor, Europe will act as a Chemical Watch editorial ambassador in Europe, building and cementing relationships with key figures in the EU chemicals regulatory world, while developing a strategic view of the desk’s overall coverage and driving future development. A key role will be to manage and develop the three-strong Europe desk team, nurture a stable of freelancers, plan for future growth, and work with the global managing editor to further develop the company’s global editorial strategy. The managing editor, Europe will also be an important contributor to the Europe desk’s output, and will need to develop a good working knowledge of how chemicals are regulated, especially under EU REACH and GB REACH, and collaborate with the wider editorial and analyst teams to ensure coverage is insightful and valuable. The successful candidate will moderate relevant Chemical Watch Europe conferences and webinars and contribute to the Chemical Watch news podcast.
